
Doshisha American Studies Journal
Doshisha American Studies is a journal devoted to the study of any aspect of the United States of America, published annually (in March) by the International Institute of American Studies, Doshisha University, Kyoto, Japan. Manuscripts, either in Japanese or in English, originally written for this journal and not submitted elsewhere in any form of publication, are welcome from all scholars of American Studies within and outside Japan, including graduate students.
All manuscripts will be subject to anonymous peer review, and the Editorial Committee will make its final decision whether the submitted manuscript will be accepted or not.

Submission of Manuscripts:
- I.Application
- (a)Applicants must submit theme and summary in English, no more than 250 words (double- spaced). Designate the category of your manuscript.
In Japanese, A summary should consist of no more than 400 characters.
(b) Deadline of application with summary: May31.
For 2011,we are extending deadline to June15.
(c)Deadline of completed manuscript:October10.
(d)The Editorial Committee judges submitted applications and sends the criteria of Doshisha American Studies journal to the applicants.
- II.Manuscript
- 1.Length
- (a)Articles and Research Notes:
- In Japanese: Manuscript should not exceed 20,000 characters, including references and notes. Attach a 500-word English abstract.
- In English: Manuscript should not exceed 8,500 words (double-spaced), including references and notes. Attach a 500-word English abstract.
(b)Book Review, Materials/and Literature.
- In Japanese: not more than 12,000 characters, with English title.
- In English: Manuscript should not exceed 5,000 words (double-spaced).

Notes should be numbered consecutively and collected at the end of the manuscript. |
- 3.Deadline
- October 10. Publication is scheduled for March, which is the end of the Japanese academic calendar.
- 4.Submissions should include TWO HARD COPIES of each manuscript, along with ABSTRACT, and DIGITAL FILE (with your name, and word-processing software used). They will not be returned regardless of the Editorial Committee’s decision.
- 5.The Editorial Committee reserves the right to change the category of the submitted manuscript, and to request changes following the Committee’s judgment.
- 6.Submission is contingent upon the author’s agreement to make it accessible on Doshisha University’s Digital Library System(http://elib.doshisha.ac.jp/english/)
